Celebrated musician, 2face Idibia, will unveil a new single titled ‘Play your Part’ as the Season 2 of the TV drama series, Newman Street, begins on Sunday.
Newman Street is produced by Nollywood Concept Promotions and the Centre for Communication Programmes Nigeria, with support from the United States Agency for International Development, United Nation’s Population the Fund, the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and the UK Department for International Development.
The new single, which is Nigeria’s new national malaria theme song by 2face features Sani Danja and Eve B and it will be unveiled at the MUSSON Centre, Lagos.
Organisers of the event note that activities at Sunday’s presentation are planned to support the National Malaria Eradication Programme’s commemoration of the World Malaria Day.
The World Malaria Day 2015’s slogan is ‘Invest in the future, defeat malaria -Your Action Counts.’
Says the organisers, “When Newman Street first burst on television screens across Nigeria last year, millions of viewers were instantly captivated by the twists and turns of life in an urban slum. Each new episode brought tales of suspense, love, betrayal, hilarious moments and intrigues, not to mention questions about the fate of everyone’s favourite characters.
“Fans will soon have their answers when Season 2 of Newman Street is launched on April 26 and reveals what the future holds for Andy, Usman, Mama and Papa Ejiro and other regulars of the television drama series.”
They add that in Season 2, the series will follow Andy on his journey to stardom and make viewers identify with the ups and downs he encounters along the way.
