The Managing Director of Terra Kulture, Mrs. Bolanle Austen-Peters, has said that the need to showcase high standards in film business propelled the Victoria Island, Lagos-based arts and cultural centre to partner with celebrated film maker Kunle Afolayan on his new movie, October 1.
In one of its new initiatives to promote the Nigerian cinema, Terra Kulture is in partnership with Golden Effects for the marketing of October 1, which was recently screened in Lagos.
Hitherto, many film makers had been pushing their works alone, a situation that, observers believe, had negatively affected such films in the market. But with Terra Kulture’s initiative, a new regime may be in place as more practitioners are likely to explorers similar collaborations on future films.
According to Austen-Peters, who also made a daring move last year by producing a major broadway musical, Saro, the partnership with Golden Effects has already started yielding results. This, she notes, is evident in Terra’s vital role in facilitating a series of private screenings for corporate organiations – including Oando, Standard Chartered Bank, Leadway Assurance and Leadway Pensure – as well as what she describes as industry heavyweights.
She adds that this is with a view to raising sponsorship for the cinematic release and worldwide premiere of October 1.
Austen-Peters says, “Terra Kulture’s key involvement in the successful screening of October 1 signifies a renaissance in the culture of Nigerian movie promotion, and marketing of Nigerian arts and culture at large.”
She had also noted at one of the private screenings at the Intercontinental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos that the collaboration would open the door for more possibilities.
It is exciting to know that the entire film and production was done in Nigeria, with world- class content as seen in this epic movie October 1. We are proud to partner with Golden Effects Pictures to Market and promote this movie,” she said.
The Intercontinental Hotel Exclusive Private Screening was sponsored by Hayden Petroleum Limited and Partnership Investment Company Plc.
Shot in various locations across Nigeria, October 1 boasts an array of stars including Kunle Afolayan, Sadiq Daba, Deola Sagoe, Kenneth Okonkwo, Fabian Adeoye Lojede, Demola Adedoyin, David Baile, Kayode Olaiya, Kehinde Bankole and Nick Phys.
Terra Kulture says it will premiere at the Eko Hotel on September 28, while it is due for its cinema debut on the 1st of October 2014.
