The Yoruba god of thunder, Sango, is set to assume a new status as plans on for the first edition of the Sango Festival, to be hosted by the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi.
According to Chief Biodun Ajiboye of Logica Media Group, the Kabiyesi has endorsed the project proposed to hold in August this year.
“The Oyo Empire was the strongest empire in West Africa, nay Africa. We have a lot of cultural antecedents in Oyo.
“More than enough cultural monuments that can fascinate the world are still alive in Oyo and other parts of the Yoruba land. This is a culture we can’t ignore,” Ajiboye says.
